essigm's blog
Hello from lazy land!
Did last week fly by for anyone else? I had all these great things planned to blog about and time just totally got away from me. I think it's the end-of-semester rush. Let's have an update, shall we?

Before I forget...
Thankful November
Today I am thankful for the heat! It's gotten super chilly here the last couple days and it's nice to be able to go to sleep in a warm room!

Back to business...
I would call yesterday an "active rest day."

Last night, one of my favorite high school friends shot me a text. She was discouraged because although she's been changing her eating habits and living a healthier lifestyle lately, she wasn't seeing results. She wondered why everyone says you feel so great and energized when you work out and eat well when she wasn't having the same reaction.

Today is the first day I have not wanted to eat my arm in about two days. I don't know what my deal was, but I could NOT fill up for more than about 20 minutes--even on Tuesday, which was my rest day! I seriously HATE when this happens. It's so frustrating to eat good-for-you-food that should fill you up, but you just happen to be a human garbage disposal that day.
Apparently my body figured out it was being ridiculous because today I haven't been very hungry at all. Thank goodness. Normalcy.
Anyway! Check this out:

I know I always talk about how much I love my little town of Mitchell, and I do. I really do. I would not mind living there at all. EXCEPT the restaurant selection. Oh, the restaurant selection. Something Sioux City is not lacking in (however, I will never get over the fact that SC doesn't have a Chipotle or a Q'doba until they get a Chipotle or Q'doba). If I wanted Thai food in Mitchell, I would have to (GASP) make it myself. But last night when I wanted Thai food, I just got take out from Diamond Thai.

I always used to think the athletes at my high school and college who had two- and three-a-day practices were so intense. I thought that was the epitome of athleticism. The peak of performance.
I also thought they were stupid, and if a sport I was in required me to participate in that insanity, I would be the first "athlete" out the door.

This is a test post. This blog will be about a healthy lifestyle, even though I just ate three pieces of pizza.
